The inaugural Royal Phuket Marina Boat Rally brought together 10 boats and more than 50 people on a unique nautical treasure hunt around Phang Nga Bay recently (Saturday 3rd April). With seven challenges and a series of clues, the Rally participants headed off in search of the locations and had just four hours to complete as many challenges as possible.

Designed not as a race, the focus was on fun and environmental responsibility with all boats and crew being requested to bring back any trash found either in the sea or on the islands, and more than 10 bags of rubbish were collected!

Open to all motor boats upto 12 metres in length, the Royal Phuket Marina Boat Rally is a new initiative from Royal Phuket Marina under the concept of “Grow Boating” to promote boating in Phuket, to get more boats out on the water and enjoying the stunning cruising grounds on Royal Phuket Marina's doorstep.

Boats from RIBs and speedboats upto luxury motor cruises took part in what is to become a regular event organised by Royal Phuket Marina, the next edition planned for May/ June 2016.

Home of the rally, Royal Phuket Marina is a full service marina and the only 5 Gold Anchor marina in Thailand. Following the recent addition of a new dry stack facility with a state-of-the-art Wiggins Marina Bull lift and 24/7 concierge service, the marina offers convenient, hassle-free boating and now has capacity for 296 boats upto 35 metres.

Royal Phuket Marina also comprises award-winning residential properties, dining outlets and boutique shops along the Boardwalk, health and wellness facilities including the island's premier health club and floodlit tennis courts, the largest exhibition and convention centre on the island, 'Kids Mania at RPM' – a multi-purpose indoor/ outdoor children's play zone – and high-speed fibre optic internet throughout.

“Over the next five years we will be investing a further five billion baht to expand our facilities. This will include development of our hospitality, residential and marine offerings with the goal to establish Royal Phuket Marina as the iconic mixed-use waterfront lifestyle destination in Asia,” noted Mr. Gulu Lalvani, Chairman, Royal Phuket Marina.
